Sara Quintanar of MusicWithSara.com lead almost 300 Spanish immersion students to the song "Fotos Y Recuerdos" performed by her 4th graders and her Music Ensemble at Franklin Magnet Elementary School in Glendale Ca.
"We teach a Selena song every semester - and the kids love her.
We have one teacher in particular who is a die-hard fan, so it's necessary we teach Selena" - says Sara.

HOAX: Killer To Be Released
A fake article circulating claims that the murderer of "Tejano Queen" Selena, may be given an early release from prison.

This fraudulent claim comes from satire site National Report. The brief, fabricated article asserts that Yolanda Saldivar could be released in January of 2015 due to a deteriorating health condition. Included in the column is a false quote attributed to a health coordinator (likely a non-existent person) at the prison where Saldivar is being held.

At the end of the article, there is a link to a petition on Change.org. It should be noted that this petition was started on December 8th of 2014, and may have been posted by someone associated with National Report.

A visit to the website of the Texas Department of Justice reveals that Saldivar's potential parole date of 2025 has not been changed.

National Report is well-known for creating fake news stories in the name of satire. However, these satire stories often do not contain elements of humor, and frequently exploit fears or hot button topics to draw in traffic/income.
In Conclusion; The murderer of Selena, is not being granted an early release from prison. This claim comes from National Report, a satire site which publishes fake news stories.

On a side note, I always recommend to look at the source of any news article, If it is not from a source you recognize or trust, most likely it's not valid.

Former Selena Bandmate Don Shelton Dies
CORPUS CHRISTI - Don Shelton II, a former backup singer and dancer for Selena y Los Dinos died Tuesday from cancer. He was 47.
Shelton performed as a backup dancer with Selena Quintanilla-Perez in the late 80s during the Tejano Music Awards, Suzette Q. Arriaga said.
"He toured with us for a while with two other guys who became part of the show," Arriaga said. "He had a great laugh, an infectious smile and was a cool guy."
Arriaga said Shelton left Los Dinos for a few years to pursue music production then rejoined the band as a backup singer. He performed with Selena until her death in 1995, Arriaga said.
"We loved Don. He was a great guy who brought good energy to the band," Arriaga said. "I'll always remember his laugh."
Family members were unavailable to speak to the Caller-Times Wednesday, but said funeral arrangements are pending.

Don Shelton former bandmate of Selena Y Los Dinos has lost his battle to cancer.
During the 90's, Don performed alongside Selena Quintanilla as a backup dancer and singer.
Suzette Quintanilla posted: "Sometimes in life you just have the pleasure of working with people who don't see a color or a cultural barrier in music. Today our bandmate Don Shelton lost his life to Cancer. We really had so much fun laughing it up and just having a great time on the road and showing Don how us Latinos Do it!! GREAT GUY who we will miss... To his family I'm so sorry for your loss."
AB Quintanilla posted: "I would like to send my condolences to Don Shelton's family. Don was a Dino who lost his battle with cancer. You will be missed my friend."
Chris Perez posted: "Just got the call with some bad news. A good friend and ex-bandmate lost his battle with cancer. I'm gonna miss you Don Shelton and our late night shenanigans.
